Activities at the Ukraine shelter

On February 2nd, Serve the Gentle visited the Ukraine shelter to decorate ‘eierkoeken’ (traditional Dutch sponge cakes) and play Wii games. This was followed by another visit on February 20th, where they played traditional Dutch games with the children. Both the eierkoeken decorating and the traditional games were new activities. Fortunately, both were a great success! Serve the Gentle was once again able to provide the children at the shelter with a wonderful and fun-filled afternoon

Waste picking

On February 4th, Serve the Green headed out to pick up litter on and around the Tilburg University campus. They were joined by several wonderful day-volunteers who lent a helping hand. Together, they covered a route through the area, clearing as much waste from the streets as possible. With this initiative, Serve the Green aims to make a modest but meaningful contribution to a cleaner and tidier Tilburg!

Campus tour with Foundation Met je Hart Goirle-Riel

On Wednesday, February 4th, Serve the Grey organized a guided tour of the Tilburg University campus for seniors from the Met je Hart Goirle-Riel Foundation. The volunteers started the day by enjoying a lovely lunch with the participants before taking a stroll around the campus. They shared stories about the university, some of the iconic buildings, and what student life is really like. The tour was a great success, and it is definitely something we look forward to repeating!

Carnival activity at Education Center Leijpark

During the Carnival celebrations, the children participated in two different activities. Our volunteers helped out by managing the ‘can toss’ game in various rooms. The children were incredibly enthusiastic and wore some fantastic costumes! After helping with the cleanup, we received a small thank you gift for our contribution to the day.

Making soup at Amarant

On Wednesday, February 25th, Serve the Brave returned to the Amarant daycare center to make soup for the second time. Once again, they prepared the soup together with the clients and enjoyed a meal together afterward. It was another great success! This activity is now scheduled to take place monthly for the remainder of the year.

Collection campaign for the animal shelter

Serve the Gentle held their first collection day for the local animal shelter. They are gathering egg cartons, toilet paper rolls, muesli boxes, and other items for the Hart van Brabant animal shelter. The first day was a great success, resulting in three full boxes of supplies! This initial kickoff has also raised significant awareness for the campaign, with many people already collecting items for the second day. In addition, events like this are excellent for increasing the visibility of Serve the City Tilburg on campus.
