Ilse Lammers – Chairwoman
Lindsey Jansen – Vice Chairwoman
Roan Keuper – Secretary
Jurrian Verhoogt – Treasurer
Amber Oonincx – Commissioner PR

In this newsletter, each board member will briefly introduce themselves. We are very much looking forward to the coming year!

Ilse Lammers – Chairwoman
Hello, my name is Ilse Lammers and this year I have the honor of being the chairwoman of Serve the City Tilburg.

I’m 20 years old and I grew up in Someren, a small village in North Brabant. I have lived in Tilburg for two years now. I’m currently in my third year of my philosophy bachelor. I’m also a member of it’s complementary study association, SAPI. My free time I enjoy spending with my friends, either at home with a board game or dancing in a bar.

As the chairwoman, I’m responsible for maintaining contact with many of our external partners and ensuring that everything within the foundation runs smoothly. I am also the coordinator of Serve the Wisdom. Which is the committee based around spreading awareness about important topics.

I’m looking forward to the coming year and all the great activities we will get to do!

Lindsey Jansen – Vicechairwoman

Hey! My name is Lindsey Jansen, I’m 21 years old, and this year I’m serving as vice-chairman. I’m primarily responsible for recruitment and supporting my fellow board members. I’m also the coordinator of Serve the Gentle, the committee that helps people and animals without a home in Tilburg.

I grew up in Beek en Donk, but I’ve been living in Tilburg for a while now. Last year, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Tax Economics, and this year I started the master’s program in the same field. In my free time, I mostly enjoy reading and watching sports. I especially love watching the games when TeamNL is in action. I also enjoy being creative. Further, was I also busy last summer during the Vierdaagse: although I usually just come to watch, this year I got to help out as a volunteer by punching tickets. My favorite color is blue —in fact, I’m only a member of organizations whose color is blue (Smeetskring and Serve the City).

I’m looking forward to having a great year filled with lots of fun activities!

Roan Keuper – Secretary

Hey! My name is Roan Keuper, 19 years old, and this year I’ll be the secretary of Serve the City Tilburg.

As secretary, I’ll be responsible for all the contact with our volunteers, and I’ll maintain the administration. This means that nearly all the communications to and within Serve the City passes by me. I’m also the coordinator for the committee Serve the Brave. This committee organizes activities for people with a physical or mental disability.

I grew up in Geldrop, near Eindhoven, and I only moved to Tilburg last year. I’m now in the third year of my psychology bachelor, with a major in clinical psychology. I also work at De Kindertelefoon, a place where kids can turn to with their worries or problems. In my free time, you’ll find me at drinks with my fraternity P.I.O.T. (at TSV Plato), or out in the city center with friends and housemates. I’m also always up for a game, a drink, or a game with a drink.
If you ever have some time between classes and are bored out of your mind, feel free to drop by our board room at Esplanade (Room 205)! See you there!

Jurrian Verhoogt – Treasurer

Hi, my name is Jurrian, and this year I’m the treasurer of Serve the City Tilburg.

I’m 20 and originally from Gendringen. I moved to Tilburg at the start of last academic year to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Economics. Besides my studies, I also enjoy a good party. That’s why you’ll often find me out on the town with friends. I also really enjoy playing sports. For example, I regularly play padel with friends, and I can (very occasionally) be found at Basicfit.

As Treasurer, I’m responsible for the accounting. I prepare a quarterly report every quarter and an annual report at the end of the year. I’m also the committee coordinator for Serve the Grey. In this committee, we organize activities to honor the elderly, such as going for walks or cooking together.

I’m really excited about the coming year and look forward to meeting everyone!!

Amber Oonincx – Commissioner PR

Heyy everyone, I am Amber. This year I’ll be the Commissioner PR for Serve the City Tilburg.

I’m 20 years old and have lived my entire life in this beautiful province. In addition to my board year, I am in the third year of the Bachelor of Global Law and taking extra elective courses in Dutch Law so I can get my civiel effect. When I am not on campus, you can find me at the Sports Center playing volleyball or lifting weights, in the boulder hall, in the city centre with friends, reading outside, or traveling in different countries.

As Commissioner PR, I manage public relations, promotion, and communication to keep students and residents informed about volunteer work across Tilburg. I work on social media and website management, and on everything related to the foundation’s visibility. I am also the coordinator of Serve the Green. In this committee, you’ll organise activities focused on sustainability, the environment, and raising awareness. This includes the food bank, but also, for example, a clothing drive or a vegetarian dinner. Activities such as litter cleanup and a recycling craft afternoon are also part of this.

I am really looking forward to this year and meeting everyone!! Our room E.205 is always open, so feel free to stop by

Activity at the Ukraine Shelter

On October 3rd, a fun play day was held at Buurthuis de Wissel for the children from various Ukrainian refugee shelters. We were there to help out and, among other things, provided fun glitter tattoos. We also helped the children with various arts and crafts activities. The afternoon was a great success. We look back on a fun and colorful day!

Science Weekend

On Sunday, October 4th, we were back at Mindlabs for the Science Weekend. There, we led a workshop called “Build Your Own Spaceship!” where children could build their own rockets using paper cups and rubber bands. The activity was very well attended! The kids worked enthusiastically on their projects, and there were many successful launches. We look forward to hosting this workshop again next year!
