Newsletter October 2026

Beursvloer (Exchange Floor)
On October 6th, we were once again present at the Beursvloer (Exchange Floor) event at the Willem II stadium! We spoke with many individuals and companies, and we look forward to collaborating with our new contacts.

Purple Friday
On October 9th, we handed out cookies on campus for Purple Friday. The day before, we baked the cookies at the ‘De Nieuwe Stede’ community center and packaged them with a small card to raise awareness for Purple Friday—reminding us all that we share a collective responsibility to foster a loving and safe society.

Youth Forum Serve the City International
From October 9th to 11th, we attended the Serve the City International Youth Forum in Brussels! We participated in lectures on how other cities approach volunteer work, as well as workshops focused on communication within our organization. There was also a plenary discussion where our chair had the opportunity to share her experiences as a young volunteer. Connecting with the international organization was incredibly valuable, and we look forward to working more closely with them in the future!

Constitutiondrink
On October 15th, we held our constitutiondrink at Café de Boekanier. We had a fantastic time, and it was an honor and a great pleasure to welcome you all. We look forward to a wonderful year together!

Bonheur
On October 20th, we were invited to an introductory dinner at Bonheur, alongside several other student boards. We had the chance to meet some of Bonheur’s staff and management, and we learned about the company’s history. We look forward to collaborating with them again this year.

Getting to know our volunteers
On October 22, we organized an introductory event for our committee volunteers: a pub quiz at ‘de Cultuurtuin’. It was wonderful to get together with all our volunteers and meet everyone. You are the heart of the foundation, and we are incredibly grateful for your contributions!

Muncipality dinner
On Monday, October 26, our chair and vice-chair represented Serve the City Tilburg at a municipality dinner organized by SAM and FUST. This event provided an opportunity for various student organizations to connect with members of the municipal council. It was an engaging evening that led to many new connections.

Second chance market
From October 30 to November 1, we partnered with ContourdeTwern to host a second chance market at the ‘de Symfonie’ community center. We were delighted to provide many families and individuals with clothing and various items, giving these goods a new lease on life.

Starting walking activities and IKOOK
Finally, this month the Serve the Grey committee began organizing walks for the elderly at ‘het Boshuis van de Wever’ and launched the ‘IKOOK’ program, in which our volunteers cook together with elderly people.
