Graffiti workshop
On June 12, we attended a super fun graffiti workshop with the children of the Ukraine refugee shelter. After first making a sketch, the children could work outside with the spray cans. The children made beautiful creations that gave free rein to their creativity. The children really enjoyed it and we enjoyed it too!
NOV prize
A few months ago we submitted a vlog to the National Volunteer Awards 2024 (NOV) with what we do at Serve the City Tilburg and what we stand for. With this submission, we won 750 euros! We received the prize money of the NOV award on June 14 in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The afternoon kicked off with a film about the winners of the larger prizes and a workshop on making decision trees. Then we were able to get to know the other nominees better while enjoying a snack and a drink. We enjoyed ourselves. A big thanks to NOV!
Mud run
On June 15, we as a board ran a 13-kilometer mud run! The goal was to raise money for Serve the City to organize great activities. With this money we also wanted to ensure that our successors have an amount to start the year with.
Despite all the mud, we finished it and raised a nice amount! In total we raised 453 euros. Many thanks to everyone who donated!
Signing of the contracts of the candidate board
On June 18, the incoming board of Serve the City Tilburg signed their contracts! This establishes the new board and what a fun board it has become! The upcoming chair is Elin Kloot (second from right), the upcoming vice chair is Cris de Vries (second from left), the upcoming secretary is Laura van Gorkom (first from right) and the upcoming treasurer is Moniek Broens (first from left). As the current board, we would like to wish them the best of luck and a great year ahead!
Tour at La Trappe
On June 19, Serve the Grey took a tour of brewery de Koningshoeven, offered to us by La Trappe. Together with Stichting Met je hart we enjoyed a fun and interesting tour and ended it with a lunch at La Trappe. This was also very tasty and we talked together about all kinds of things. Thank you La Trappe for organizing such a fun day!
Children’s festival
Last Wednesday, June 26, our children’s festival took place. Together with the children of the Ukraine care and the BSO, we played various games in the radiant weather. There were water games, a bouncy castle, a soccer attraction, Twister XL and glitter tattoos present. All in all, plenty for the children to enjoy. This they certainly did! It was a lot of fun to do all the different games with them and there were also many volunteers who helped us with this. There was also a lemonade stand from McDonalds. Because of the hot weather, this was very nice to have, so thank you McDonalds! With a sparkling glitter tattoo, the children went home happy and we had come to the end of a successful children’s festival!
