National volunteer day
Thursday, December 7, was National Volunteer Day. We celebrated this by putting our volunteers in the spotlight. The board was also invited by VrijwilligersTilburg to enjoy a movie in the cinema together with all the volunteers in Tilburg.
Purple Friday
Friday, December 8, was Purple Friday. Many people/students wear the color purple on this day to show their solidarity with the lhbti community. The Serve the Wisdom committee, along with the lhbtqia+ student organization Umbrella Association, were on campus in the morning to hand out purple bracelets and pride pins. We ran out of purple bracelets and pride pins, making our activity successful!
Villa Pardoes Run
On Saturday, December 9, the Villa Pardoes Run took place. Serve the City helped with the children’s activity glitter tattoos. This was a great success and also very entertaining!
Over 1800 people participated in the Villa Pardoes Run and a total of 173,652 euros was raised! A lot of respect for everyone who ran in the rain and helped to raise this amount.
Christmas Cantus Boekanier
Thursday, December 21, café de Boekanier organized the Christmas cantus. We went together with our volunteers and made it a very nice evening. We would like to thank the Boekanier for organizing the successful Christmas cantus.
Selling oliebollen with La Trappe
Saturday, December 30 and Sunday, December 31, we as a board sold oliebollen in cooperation with La Trappe on the grounds of beer brewery de Koningshoeven (where La Trappe is brewed). The oliebollen contained La Trappe blond beer and from each bag of oliebollen sold, 2.50 euros went to Serve the City. This was great fun to do and it also went very well.
