This year too, Serve the City Tilburg is looking for a new student board for the 2020/2021 academic year!
Serve the City Tilburg is a student volunteer organization. We believe that students can do more for Tilburg society during their student days. Do you agree with this thought? Maybe a (part-time) board year at STC is perfect for you!
A part-time board year means that you are able to take some courses next to your board year. In addition to the regular weekly room hours and activities, it is therefore possible to organize your own time yourself.
As a board member of Serve the City Tilburg, you’re not only responsible for the tasks that belong to your position, but also for the overall organization. Together with four other board members, you are the face of STC.
During your board year you will meet a lot of new people. Next to that you also work together with loads of different study and study associations. A board year at STC is the ultimate way to grow your social network!
You can apply for the following positions: chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer and PR commissioner. These functions are briefly described below. These functions have also been highlighted on the website before (see news).
As a chairman you are the face of the foundation. When (difficult) decisions have to be made, you are the first point of contact for the board member, the development coordinator and the Advisory Board. In addition, you lead the board meetings, plan them and set the agenda.
You will also have to address your board members if they do not perform their duties properly. It is important that you do not escape from difficult situations. Besides these standards tasks, you support all the committees where necessary.
Do you like to be a leader or do you want to learn this correctly? This function might be perfect for you!

As vice-president you are responsible for the acquisition, and you’re the person of contact of the Fontys and Avans. One of the goals of Serve the City Tilburg this year is to extend to these schools. We strive to connect as many students to our organization as possible.
As vice-president one of your daily tasks is to help the chairman, to manage the contracts and funds. Next to those tasks the vice-president also has a committee to coordinate.

As secretary you are responsible for contacting the volunteers of our foundation. At the start of the academic year, you will be the person who will have conversations with new students in order to inform them about what we do and how they can join.
It is important that you can work carefully and structured – or would like to learn this. Multitasking is very useful, since you will take minutes during the board meetings.
In this position you can use all your creativity when writing the monthly newsletter.
As a secretary you therefore build a network including students and boards. In addition, this is the ultimate opportunity to put your administrative skills into practice!

As treasurer of Serve the City Tilburg, you are in control of the organization’s finances. During the entire year you will keep track of expenditures, monitor income and at the end of each quarter write a financial report.
To give insight into your expenditures you will start by making a budget for the coming year and at the end of the year you will write the yearly financial report. This all provides you with a lot of practical financial knowledge.
If you are interested in gaining practical knowledge about an organization’s finances and are not shy of taking responsibility than the treasurer position is great for you!

As PR commissioner you are responsible for everything regarding the promotion of the foundation. Think about keeping the website and the social media up to date (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Next to this you will design the posters for activities, flyers, invitations and constitutioncards.
Other promotion activities also belong to this function. For example: organizing a visibility day or information market.
Just like the other functions you will have an own committee to coordinate.
So, are you creative, do you have a nice chat and are you good in making others enthusiastic? Then this function belongs to you!
