Hi everyone! I am Despina de Werd, Chairman of Serve the City Tilburg. I am 21 years old and at the moment I am finishing my bachelor Communication and Information sciences (CIS) and premaster Marketing Analytics. Besides my study, I love to photograph, travel and have a drink with my friends.
I have chosen for a board year at Serve the City Tilburg to get more practical experience. Together you kind of run your own business for an entire year. You get to know many new people and you learn how to handle new situations. As a board year at Serve the City is only part-time, you can still follow some courses. For example, I am following three pre master courses and I will write my thesis this year.
As a chairman, you are responsible for the general overview of the organisation and the contact with other associations/partners. This year we have 4 committees and 5 board members. That is why we have chosen that I will not be a coordinator of a committee, so I can have a better general overview. However, I organise activities that are not a part of a committee, so for example: The Etiquette dinner and the activity with Versot and Quit which already took place.
I have chosen to be the chairman, because I like to do a lot of different stuff and help other people. During your board year at Serve the City Tilburg, you can make a lot of people happy. Tilburg is a city where not all people live without worries. However, these people can have an amazing day with little things.
In conclusion, at Serve the City you learn to develop yourself, the target groups will appreciate all the activities that you organise and you will meet a lot of new people!
